Rob Spring: Be afraid of government power
Be afraid. Be very afraid. I review the news, in depth, every day. I actually host a site on the web on which I post stories of significance that don't make the 24 hour news cycle.
I've seen many stories over the last few years which, alone, would have just raised my eyebrows, but collectively make the hair stand up on the back of my neck.
The first story to catch my attention was the debate on the Patriot Act. Some of our liberties were brushed aside in the effort to combat terrorism. It sounded like a good idea at the time. After all, we had just watched planes fly into buildings. Yet, I just never felt comfortable with some of the power given to our government.
