Raw milk producer takes case to court

Worthington, Minn. — A Minnesota dairy farmer whose products are linked to an E. coli outbreak wants to be able to sell his products again, and he has taken his case to court.

The state alleges E. coli in unpasteurized milk sold by Michael Hartmann sickened eight people. The Minnesota Agriculture Department banned the Gibbon farmer from selling any products.

Today Hartmann will ask a Sibley County judge to lift that embargo.

FDA Expands Nationwide Egg Recall

The Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday dramatically expanded the recall of eggs linked to a nationwide salmonella outbreak to 380 million eggs.

Investigation by the FDA and state health officials have linked the contaminated eggs to an Midwestern firm called Wright County Egg in Iowa.

An FDA news release provides more details, including the names of the retailers and packaging on the eggs.
